Welcome to the Headquarters Dojo for Isshinkai

Set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, the Head Quarters dojo at Fyfield is surrounded by Japanese gardens and is our Haven of Peace.  It has a green for camping and facilities in the dojo for you to stay as long as you need, should you live further afield.  It is in easy reach of London, Salisbury, Winchester, Stonehenge, Avebury and many sites of interest.

When can I Practice

First class is free.

After a 4 week Beginner’s course costing £40, you will be invited to become a member of  Fyfield dojo.  This is paid by a Direct Debit of £40 per month or an annual sum of £450.

After 4 classes you will join Isshinkai (an association of all the dojos) which £35 per year.  This gives you access to Denis Burke Sensei’s teaching on courses, seminars, summer school and private lessons and access to grading.

Classes are on Mondays 7.30-9.30pm and practice sessions, supervised by High Grades are on Thursdays and an essential part of making the teaching one’s own. You can practice on your own or with others if a High Grade is present, at any time.

!! Make sure you arrive 20 minutes before the advertised start time to change and get ready. !!


Classes for Children and Youth

Children's and Youth Aikido Classes are held at The Aikido Centre on Friday evenings during school term-time.

Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

For children or youths under the age of 16 we require a parent of guardian to watch at least one class before enrolment.

16-18 year olds may attend Monday evening beginner's sessions if they prefer.

Youth is £40 per term.

Children is £30 per term.

What to wear?

Bring a clean set of clothes to change into at the dojo. You'll be practicing on a clean mat and we don't want to bring dirty clothes you've been wearing all day onto it. 

From the changing room to the side of the mat you should wear footwear. We wear Zori; slippers and or footwear if fine, High heels are impractical.

Step onto the mat with bare feet, ensuring not to step on the floor when taking off your shoes/slippers.
